"dont you hate it when you have high schoolers in your class and just because they have a 4.0 GPA, they automatically think their above everyone else?"
its true! i've always kind of agreed to that statement, while in high school, i have always strived to have a 4.0 and i guess it did make me feel pretty damn special, but now that i look back on it, it really is just so stupid. i dont mean to talk like i know everything about everything, i just thought i'd share a few of my thoughts that i had this morning. its just really sad to me that in order to be considered "smart," you have to have a number attached to your soul. having a 4.0 means nothing in terms of whats really going on, having a 4.0 just means you can memorize and recite various phrases, you can turn crap in on time, and that you're just a little more organized than some----it doesnt make you any more of a person, it doesnt automatically make you top shit. if i had realized in high school what i realize now, i would've honestly spent more time enjoying life with my friends and not stressing so much about fucking grades. enjoy life! good grades are nice to have and all, but after spending high school with the cream of the crop students, it just seems like a waste of time now. dont get me wrong, im not saying school is a waste of time and that everyone should just drop outta school and become radicals, im just saying that grades arent everything, and after attending an art school for the past year, its really shown me that it really comes down to having skill. Skill is whats gonna get you the job, skill is whats going to get you recognized, just mix in a little organization and you've got yourself everything you need to succeed.
then again i could be a walking hypocrite too, im just 19 and here i am ranting about 4.0s and high school like it was so long ago. i graduated just last year! humility is something i should practice more because i'll admit: when i walk into a class i do feel pretty damn good that i graduated close to the top of my class in high school, but that doesnt change the fact that the guy next to me, who just barely graduated with a 2.0, can draw better than me. once again, im just saying that in the end, grades are no where near everything there is to know about life.
Now im going to go take a nap and laze around until i have to go back to class at 5:30. I'm going to take it easy for the next 4 hours and not stress about things i can't change.
thanks for reading folks. ----kat
